HÜBNER Photonics is proud to announce the delivery of its 30,000th Cobolt laser. This milestone laser was sold to Scilife Lab in Stockholm, a renowned research institution dedicated to advancing life sciences.

To commemorate this achievement, the 30,000th Cobolt laser was specially engraved with the company’s iconic zebra, symbolizing the company’s motto: “Coherence Matters”. This laser will be integrated into Scilife Lab’s state-of-the-art super-resolution microscopes, designed for live-cell imaging.

Dr. Abigail Illand from Scilife Lab (pictured here), was very thrilled to hold her new Cobolt laser. As she explained, investigating biological processes at the nanoscale requires enough photons, which is critical for capturing high-quality data:

This laser will be a valuable addition to one of our microscopes, enabling new approaches to image molecular interactions at the nanoscale. It will enhance ongoing projects by improving photon collection efficiency and providing a large field of view for high-throughput imaging. By integrating this laser, my work seeks to uncover new insights into complex biological processes, with potential applications in developmental biology, neuroscience, and disease research.

Cobolt lasers are essential for the fluorescence microscopes we build. Their robustness, stability, and performance allow us to push boundaries and continue to develope cutting-edge imaging technology.
