Celebrating Day of Photonics with local students

To celebrate this year’s Day of Photonics, HÜBNER Photonics is opening its doors to students from local schools across the Stockholm region. Through factory tours, hands-on workshops, and classroom presentations, we hope to spark curiosity about the science and technology of light and introduce young people to the exciting world of photonics.

During October, we will welcome three school classes ranging from 5th to 12th grade to our facilities in Solna. During their visit, students will have the opportunity to learn how lasers are designed and manufactured, explore real-world applications of photonics, and meet some of the engineers, scientists, and specialists working in the industry today.

Photonics plays a key role in many technologies that shape our everyday lives, from medical diagnostics and communications to advanced manufacturing, environmental monitoring, and quantum technologies. So it is important to show pupils the technology behind some of the things they see around them.

As part of the Day of Photonics celebrations, our Marketing Director, Elizabeth Illy, will also visit a local school to deliver a guest lecture to 7th-grade students.

Our hope is that by bringing photonics directly into the classroom, we inspire young minds to explore STEM subjects and discover opportunities they may not have previously considered.
