Will we really be able to improve our attention in the future? Using Optogenetics, Dr Marie Carlén and her team at Karolinska Institutet’s Department of Neuroscience have shown for the very first time that this may actually be possible after identifying a cell type in the brain of mice which is integral to attention. Their ground breaking research was recently published in the prestigious journal Cell and has large implications to the understanding of how the brains frontal lobe works.
