Innovative Femtosecond Lasers for Multiphoton Applications

Fiber-based femtosecond lasers are rapidly emerging as a leading solution for multiphoton applications, thanks to their compact, alignment-free design, user-friendly operation, and exceptional robustness.

By achieving sub-50 femtosecond pulse durations, these lasers unlock new possibilities—particularly in applications where peak power plays a critical role in enhancing performance and image quality.

In this webinar, we explore:

  • The fundamental physics behind ultrashort femtosecond laser pulses
  • The advantages of operating in the sub-50 fs regime
  • The remarkable two-photon efficiencies and high peak powers these lasers deliver
  • Their impact on advancing multiphoton microscopy, optogenetics, multiphoton polymerization, and terahertz generation

We’ll also highlight recent applications that demonstrate the benefits of shorter pulse durations in pushing the boundaries of research and innovation.

Learn about the advantages of sub 50 femtosecond pulse lasers

Join Dr. Oliver Prochnow, founder of VALO Innovations and Marloes Groot, Professor of Biophotonics and Medical Imaging at Vrije University, Amsterdam in this Biophotonics Conference.

They demonstrate how sub-50 femtosecond pulses can address ongoing challenges in traditional biopsy procedures and can ehnance tissue visualisation for accurate cancer diagnosis.

FAQs

Does the VALO system require professional installation?2025-12-03T17:18:34+01:00

No. The setup is simple and intuitive. Even first-time users can have the laser ready in just a few minutes by connecting three cables.

What is the warm-up time for the VALO lasers?2025-12-03T17:21:31+01:00

You can operate the laser directly. The laser starts within less than 2 minutes from an off state.

Are the VALO lasers remote controllable?2025-12-03T17:23:52+01:00

Yes, the lasers are fully remote controllable. You can easily connect the lasers to a PC or a network.

Do VALO lasers require special cooling systems?2025-12-03T17:25:46+01:00

No, the lasers can be operated without water cooling or fans.

Is the spectrum of the VALO Series tunable?2025-12-03T17:30:07+01:00

No, the VALO lasers are not tunable. You need the full spectrum to achieve the very short pulse duration

Can the optical output power be set for VALO lasers?2025-12-03T17:32:53+01:00

No, the VALO lasers are operated at a fixed point. Due to the interaction of linear and nonlinear effects the laser is optimized to one point to guarantee the best pulse quality.

Do you offer power attenuation for VALO lasers?2025-12-03T17:34:53+01:00

Yes, we offer a manual or motorized power attenuator which is optimized for the very large bandwidth and short pulse durations.

Can I use a normal beam splitter or waveplates?2025-12-03T17:37:49+01:00

For VALO lasers we strongly recommend using broadband and femtosecond-proven optics with low dispersion properties, such as our beam attenuator or optics.

Do you offer optics for beam guiding?2025-12-03T17:40:55+01:00

Yes, we offer our broadbad, low dispersion mirrors which are proven for the very large bandwith.

Do you offer SHG options for VALO lasers?2025-12-03T17:43:37+01:00

Yes, we offer an add-on module which will be screwed to the laser for SHG. You can also use the IR output in a second beam path if necessary.

Do you offer a solution for power modulation, such AOM?2025-12-03T17:46:37+01:00

Yes, the VALO lasers have an add-on module which will be screwed to the lasers for power modulation.

Do you offer fiber coupling solutions for VALO lasers?2025-12-03T17:50:42+01:00

Yes, we offer a fiber coupling module with very special hollow core fibers to avoid dispersions effects in the fiber. This is the only way to send very short pulses through a fiber. Unfortunately, the fiber is not polarization maintaining.

Do you offer customized solutions for VALO lasers?2025-12-03T17:54:47+01:00

Yes we can customize the laser to fit your needs, Please contact us at  sales@hubner-photonics.com to discuss all available options.

How are the lasers packed for shipment?2025-12-03T17:57:50+01:00

The VALO laser comes in an aluminium box fixed to a pallet. The laser itself is protected by a foam layer.
