FAQs

Do you offer fiber coupling options for the Cobolt Tor series?2025-12-05T15:16:39+01:00

At this time, no, we do not offer fiber coupling solutions for the Cobolt Tor series.

How is the upgraded version of the Cobolt Tor XS (12 V) laser different from the first (5 V)?2025-12-05T15:21:47+01:00
The new version of the Cobolt Tor XS is more user friendly due to the improved electronics (12 V). Customers are no longer required to use an external function generator to control the laser.

In addition, users now have access to gated and burst modes, including pulse on demand, allowing them to tune the pulse sequence to their liking. As a result, customers get a fantastic ns-pulsed laser that is both compact, easy to operate, and has highly tunable running modes.
Is the upgraded Tor XS (12 V) backwards compatible with the old version (5 V)?2025-12-05T15:50:04+01:00
Yes, the upgrade of the Tor XS is backwards compatible with the commands in the manual.
Do you provide ns-pulsed lasers with 1 mJ pulse energy?2025-12-05T15:28:03+01:00

No, the highest pulse energy we offer is 500 mJ.

Which heatsink do you recommend for each Cobolt Tor model?2025-12-05T15:36:02+01:00

We recommend the HS-07 heatsink for the Tor XS, the HS-04 for the Tor, and the HS-05 for the Tor XE.

What is the typical lead time for the Cobolt Tor Series?2025-12-05T16:24:48+01:00

The lead time for the Tor and Tor XE lasers is 5-7 weeks, while the Tor XS is 5-6 weeks.

What is difference between the various Cobolt Tor models?2025-12-05T16:08:38+01:00
The Tor XS is our smallest compact laser which is triggerable, having multiple running modes for tuning pulse sequences.

The Tor XE is our higher energy Tor laser, up to 500 uJ pulse energy. This is suitable for LIBS applications.

The Tor laser is a free running laser with no software controlled trigger modes, and is the only Tor series laser available at 355 nm.

All Tor series lasers are available at 532 nm and 1064 nm.
