Erasmus students gain experience at Cobolt AB

Over the summer, the Cobolt office in Stockholm welcomed five enthusiastic students from the HÜBNER Group in Kassel, Germany. This intragroup collaboration aimed to benefit young talents through a four-week internship, supported by the Erasmus Plus programme of the Handwerkskammer Kassel. This initiative provided a fantastic opportunity for these young talents to gain international work experience and cultural exposure.

Beyond the professional highlights, the students particularly enjoyed immersing themselves in Swedish culture. They discovered the joys of fika, participated in a traditional crayfish celebration, and strolled through the charming streets of Gamla Stan.

We had the pleasure of sitting down with Lara, Max, Felix, Janus, and Steven to learn more about their experiences at Cobolt.

What motivated you to apply for this internship?

We were motivated to participate in this internship because we always wanted to try working abroad to grow personally and professionally. It is also valuable to experience the working culture in a different country firsthand.

What skills or knowledge did you gain from this experience?

We learned a lot about how lasers are built and the fields in which they are used. Most of us were also confronted with tasks that we usually don’t work on at our regular jobs in Germany, which were very interesting. The internship also made us step out of our comfort zone because we didn’t have any experience working in a different country, especially one where we had to communicate in English. This internship gave us all much more confidence for future scenarios where we will be working with international colleagues.

What are you most proud of accomplishing during your internship?

We are most proud of the fact that we were able to contribute effectively to the team and find new ideas and methods for different projects or processes. We also supported our colleagues in production and learned to work with very small components, which we had never done before.

How has this internship influenced your career goals?

Our career goals were further strengthened by the internship abroad. Working in an international context deepends the skills and abilities of the collaborating companies, which is key to success. Furthermore, we want to continue being as open to new things as we are now and maintain the joy of change. We are very glad that we took this opportunity and that it has given us a better understanding of the importance of international cooperation.

What advice would you give to future interns?

Our advice to future interns would be to take initiative and not be afraid to ask questions. We got to know many different personalities at Cobolt, which made working there very fun and exciting. The team is incredibly supportive and willing to help you grow. Also, embrace the cultural experience of working in an international setting, as it adds tremendous value to both personal and professional growth.

What are your plans now?

Our plans for the future are to apply the knowledge and skills that we have gained during this internship. We aim to think outside the box and ask ourselves how we can approach tasks differently. When we are in contact with international colleagues, we now feel more confident going into meetings.

Max, Steven, Lara, Janus and Felix will now return to Germany to continue their work experience at HÜBNER Group in Kassel. We wish them all the very best in their future careers!
